Experience the power of the Raspberry Pi RP2040 in a compact form with the Adafruit ItsyBitsy RP2040. This miniature marvel packs a punch, featuring the ultra-fast dual Cortex M0+ processor clocked at 125 MHz. It's the ideal choice for projects where size matters but performance can't be compromised.

The ItsyBitsy RP2040 strikes the perfect balance between size and capability. Despite its diminutive dimensions of just 1.4" x 0.7", it boasts an impressive array of features. It's equipped with 8 MB of FLASH memory and 264KB of SRAM, ensuring ample space for your complex applications.

Connectivity and versatility are at the core of the ItsyBitsy RP2040. It offers 23 digital GPIO pins, with 4 supporting analog input and 16 for PWM output. This tiny board is as capable as its larger siblings, the Feather RP2040 and Raspberry Pi Pico, but in a much smaller footprint.

Technical Specifications:

  • Dimensions: 1.4" x 0.7" x 0.2" (36mm x 18mm x 4mm) without headers
  • RP2040 32-bit Cortex M0+ dual-core processor, ~125 MHz, 3.3V logic and power
  • 264 KB RAM, 8 MB SPI FLASH for storage and code
  • 23 GPIO pins: 4x 12-bit ADCs, 2x I2C, 2x SPI, 2x UART, 16x PWM outputs
  • 10 digital GPIOs for PIO compatibility
  • Built-in red LED and RGB NeoPixel with power control
  • Reset and Bootloader buttons for easy programming
  • 3.3V regulator with 500mA peak current output
  • USB Micro B connector for programming and debugging
  • Special Vhigh output pin for driving 5V-logic devices
  • 12 MHz crystal for precise timing
  • Loose 0.1" headers included for breadboard use

The RP2040 chip delivers performance comparable to the M4 (SAMD51) in speed and is equivalent to the M0 (SAMD21) in core functionality. It's particularly suited for tasks requiring two cores but doesn't support floating point or DSP hardware, making it less ideal for heavy floating point computations.

For custom hardware logic and data processing, the RP2040 features the innovative PIO state machine system. This allows for precision control of peripherals like NeoPixels, I2S audio, LED matrix displays, and more, without CPU intervention.

The board excels with Arduino/C/C++ support, an official MicroPython port, and a CircuitPython port. We recommend CircuitPython for its ease of use and extensive library support.

Note: The RP2040 does not have built-in FLASH memory. Instead, it uses an external QSPI flash chip with 8MB.
